Security & Privacy

In a world of growing Cyber Theft, we want you to feel as safe as possible shopping with us.  We take your personal information very seriously.  Following is what we are doing:

Your personal information is safe with us– We do not share, sell, or distribute your personal information to anyone.  We do not like spam and for that reason send very few promotional/information emails.  We do the bulk of our advertising through social media and encourage you to follow us on social media for sales, new products, and updates so we are not intruding into your lives.  We are always here when you need us!

Your credit card information is secure with us – We take this extremely seriously

Our site is hosted on a managed server meaning that we have an IT team that is monitoring our site around the clock.  Our IT team is responsible for daily security scans and security updates as they come available for our server, website, and SSL.  What does that mean?

  • Our site receives a Security scan from SiteLock every day that will detect Malware.  Malware is short for malicious software and can be installed on websites with weaknesses — also known as vulnerabilities — in a website's code. Malware can spread viruses, steal personal or financial data, and even hijack computers.  With SiteLock, we are protected.

  • Our site uses a strong SSL. What is an SSL?  “An SSL is an acronym for Secure Sockets Layer, an encryption technology that was created by Netscape. SSL creates an encrypted connection between our website server and your web browser Ie Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.allowing for private information to be transmitted.  Encryption is the process of scrambling data into an undecipherable format that can only be returned to a readable format with the proper decryption key.  When you as the customer sends confidential information to our website, your browser accesses our site’s digital certificate and establishes a secure connection.

But how do you know this technology is working as intended?   Unfortunately you don’t as vulnerabilities can be present on servers as mentioned prior – the reason we also use SiteLock.mmThese vulnerabilities can also be detected with a scan like the one through Qualys SSL Labs., a non commercial research organization dedicated to SSL safety across website servers and consumer browsers.Qualys SSL Scan returns a grade of A+ through F with key factors being necessary patches updated to protect against known threats. We are currently an A- but will be an A after a security feature we added has been vetted for 180 days.If ever a scan returns something different, please contact us immediately. Please feel free to check our site as well as other sites using the following link.

We protect our passwords– While this sounds like such a small thing, for a data breach to occur, an online hacker must be able to log into and gain access to the site that they have already determined to have vulnerabilities resulting from out of date week SSL encryption.  Once into a site with a weak SSL, they potentially could then install malware so that they can obtain otherwise secure data.   We do have one advantage being a small business here in that only a few people have access to our site.  These people are highly trusted and well trained.  Most importantly, we change all of our passwords every month.   If ever anyone was able to gain unauthorized access to our website, that access would be terminated with the monthly password update.

We do not store credit card information on our website– The credit card industry requires its users to be PCI compliant or face monthly fines and potentially loss of the right to accept credit cards.  PCI compliance means that a business of any size must adhere to the specific rules set forth by the credit card industry.   One of those rules is that no credit card information is to be stored anywhere on a merchant website.  We strictly adhere to these rules and feature the trans armour logo bottom right on our site that illustrate a scan has been run and there are no credit card numbers being stored on our site.

But how does this work with our autoship function?  When you use your credit card on our site, you are interacting directly with our merchant provider AuthorizeNet.  Your data is being transmitted from your computer, tablet, or smartphone directly to Authorizenet..  When you select autoship, Authorizenet craetes a customer profile that saves your card and billing information .  Your card number is not visible to us and is being stored ONLY in the merchant processor’s site itself. – Authorizenet.  Our site simply sends a message to Authorizenet to charge your auto ship order prior to shipment.  Your order is charged and a message is sent back to our site that it is OK to ship.

Why does it say transaction review when I look up my order status?  At UpakNShip, we combat credit card fraud on both sides, protecting the innocent and stopping the criminals.  Authorizenet offers fraud prevention software that detects potential problems with transactions.  We use a manual system of review to verify each transaction that we receive that is identified as a potential threat.  Our system will be triggered if any of the following situations occur:

  • Your billing address on file with your credit card provider does not match your entry
  • Your 3-4 digit CCV code does not match
  • Your billing address and shipping address do not match
  • You make too many purchases in a predetermined period of time
  • You receive a decline prior to correcting any of the above issue
  • A few various other rare triggers

If any of these triggers are activated your order will be held for a manual review.  In most cases we are able to verify the transaction is authentic but if we cannot, we will contact you to personally verify the charge.  This process rarely delays the shipment of your order and we do apologize in advance if this ever creates a delay.  Our goal is to never be a merchant that accepted your credit card info unauthorized by you.  This is just another way we are protecting the online community.

We accept (and recommend) Paypal– All of these measures discussed above are our responsibility.  Keeping you safe is no easy job for us and we do not take this responsibility lightly.  This is why we prefer paypal.  Paypal is the world’s largest online payment system/financial institution.  When you choose paypal at checkout, you are taken directly to the paypal site just by logging in.  There you can store your preferred payment method or even sign up for paypal credit and enjoy no interest financing for 6 months on purchases over $100.

Upon creating your account, your payment and shipping info is stored in paypal and ready to use by simply logging into your paypal account at checkout..  Your shipping address you selected in paypal along with your transaction id# are then sent to us giving us the OK to ship your order. None of your sensitive information is ever shared with us by paypal.  And when you use paypal, you never have to fumble around looking for your credit card while checking out online.  Simply log in and a few simple steps later, payment is made.  Please review the following link itemizing the benefits and security paypal offers for buyers.
